Charlton County Schools

The administration of Bethune Middle School has recovered a handgun in a book bag at Bethune Middle School.  The responsible party is in the custody of law enforcement.  The issue is currently being investigated by the school system and local law enforcement.  The safety of our students is our first priority.  We have no information that indicates there were threats or intent to use the weapon at school.  All students are safe and school is operating as normal.
