Our Weightlifting team finished 4th in their 1st ever Conference Championship! We had three 1st place winners: Tim Sapp, Elijah Bryant and Hunter Spradley. And four 3rd place finishers: Chase Mitchell, Javion Lambert, Trent Hamilton and Raquon Jones! Congrats to all the boys!

Congratulations to our TWO, Bethune Middle School, winning authors: 6th grade writer, Amelia Jacoby, for her submission, "The Christmas Flute," and 8th grade story teller, Aiden Leever, for his short story, "Once Upon a Snow Globe." Congratulations to the grade level winners for they Young Georgia Author's Contest! 4th Grade - Katherine Gowen 5th Grade - Grace Jones 6th Grade - Amelia Jacoby 7th Grade - Caitlin Varnadoe 8th Grade - Aiden Leever The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. Congratulations to these students!

Congratulations to Lucas Homrich on being accepted into the Georgia Music Educators All-State Honor Band. This is the highest honor in middle and high school band and is a major accomplishment. Lucas qualified for the audtion based on his district-level audition score. On January 7th, Lucas traveled to McDonough to audition against ninety other middle school percussionists for a spot in the prestigious ensemble. He will travel to Athens in March to perform with the All-State Band. We are very proud of Lucas!

On December 1, 2022, the fourth grade students and their parents who attended the Bethune Middle School ELA Family Night participated in a poetry contest. We are excited to announce the winner, Jazmine Deliez who wrote "Winter's First Breath." We are also pleased to award an honorable mention for Anthony Roberson. Anthony's poem was titled "A Charlton County Christmas." We had a lot of creative winter themed entries. The fourth grade teachers are very proud of all the students who entered the Winter Poetry Contest.
