CHARLTON COUNTY SCHOOLS

END OF YEAR NOTIFICATION

As we prepare to conclude the 2019-2020 school year, along with our school system leaders, I have been reviewing plans to end the academic year.  My sincere appreciation is extended to all of you – families, teachers, administrators, support staff and community as we have worked through these unprecedented times. Our school community has worked together to provide digital resources, print resources and meals (current distribution amount is 18,045) while maintaining our focus on the success of our students in an unchartered environment.

All digital and print resources are to be submitted for evaluation no later than Friday, May 8, 2020.  There will be no additional resources provided beyond this date, and for the majority of our students the school year will be concluded.  Our teachers, administrators and support staff will then focus our attention on at-risk students, prepare for summer break and make plans for the 2020-2021 school year.

A collection bin will be placed on all meal delivery buses on May 4th, 6th, and 8th.  Submitted work should be sealed in an envelope with the name of the student, grade and teacher clearly labeled. In addition, drop off will be allowed at each school on May 5th, 6th and 7th between the hours of 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  All library and textbooks will be collected at the same time.  Please make sure they are clearly labeled as well.

For those students in danger of retention, school administrators and teachers will be communicating with parents and students.  Decisions about promotion and retention will be made as they always have been on a case by case basis. We do not anticipate students being retained who were on track for promotion at the 3rd 9 week grading period.

Final grades for all students will be released no later than Friday, May 29, 2020.  Grades for seniors will be released earlier.  The student's final average for the semester will either be the 9 weeks grade (on March 12th) or the semester cumulative grade (at the end of the semester) whichever is higher.  For high school students End of Course Tests and Final Exams have been eliminated.  Dual enrollment grading procedures are set by the college.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you might have at charltonschools@charlton.k12.ga.us .  While we will have some support staff at schools beginning May 5th, our campuses remain closed to the public.  Each school may establish pick-up times for yearbooks, tee-shirts and other items.  If you have items in the classroom that need to be picked up, you will be required to arrange an appointment with the school administration.  You may call the specific school for more information:
