Former UGA and New England Patriots star Malcolm Mitchell visited our middle and high school students for a special Lunch & Learn event, sharing his incredible journey from Valdosta, GA, to Super Bowl champion and published author. With honesty and passion, he spoke about overcoming struggles with reading and how he realized that if he worked as hard at reading as he did at football, he could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He discussed the power of literacy and how making positive choices can shape the future. Malcolm encouraged all students to be lifelong learners, emphasizing that committing to education can open doors to endless possibilities! Malcolm shared, "If I can be a picture book author after not reading for 21 years, you can do anything!" #ReadWithMalcolm #InspireTheFuture #LiteracyMatters

Congratulations to Katy Ruth Huling, our Charlton Champion for the month. She has been a valuable member of the staff at Charlton County High School for the last fourteen years. Mrs. Huling was nominated by staff members at the school for her hard work and commitment to excellence. One of the comments from her colleagues that nominated her is below: “Mrs. Huling is an excellent math teacher who works hard to ensure her students are learning. Additionally, she does a lot for CCHS as a whole by being the head of the student council and a director of the CCHS One Act Play. She goes above and beyond for her students trying to ensure they are successful! She loves CCHS and is dedicated to her students.” Katy Ruth was presented with a certificate at CCHS this week and was given a gift card as well. Thank you to our local Quick Chick for donating a gift card for this recognition. Congrats again Katy Ruth, and thank you for making CCHS a better place! We will highlight a Charlton Champion at another school in the coming weeks.
