Sania Jordan, a 2022 high school senior, designed t-shirts for the second consecutive year for the Unified Alliance of Charlton County. She was recognized on Sunday, February 27th at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month Celebration that was held in the CCHS gym. Sania loves to draw and plans to attend Georgia Southern in the fall.

Congratulations to our FCCLA chapter president Laura Daly, for applying for and receiving two FCCLA state scholarships. Only ten scholarships are awarded to members across the entire state each year! She was awarded both the $1,000 GA Association of Family & Consumer Sciences scholarship award AND the $500 UGA College of Family & Consumer Sciences Alumni scholarship. Please join us in congratulating her! She will be a great future Family & Consumer Sciences teacher.

FCCLA competed in Region STAR Events this past Saturday at Southeast Bulloch High School in Statesboro. Congratulations to the following students for a job well done: Laura Daly & Jordan Shivar competed in “Chapter in Review Portfolio” and received 1st place. Pilar Jones & Amir Lofton competed in “Professional Presentation” and received 1st place. Ashanti Alderman & Malaysia Johnson competed in “Chapter in Review Display” and received 1st place. Sydnee Johnson competed in “Chapter Service Project Portfolio” and received 2nd place. The students that placed 1st at region will advance to state competition in Athens next month! Twenty-two members of the CCHS Band of Pride have been selected into the Georgia Music Educators Association District 8 Honor Band. Of these students, Tanner Murray and Caleb Bryant have been accepted into the GMEA All-State Band. Congrats to these students and to our band director Mr. Hersey!
