The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s highest-achieving high school seniors and the teachers most instrumental in their academic development. To be nominated as a STAR, Georgia high school students meet several criteria, including having the highest SAT score at their school on any single test date through November of their senior year and being in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. High school STAR Students are asked to name their STAR Teacher. The educator the student chooses may be any Pre-K through 12 classroom teacher in good standing in an accredited Georgia school system or private school. Charlton County High School is proud to announce the STAR student for the 2024-2025 school year is Miss Haley Crews Haley has chosen Ms. Tracey Willis as her STAR teacher. Congratulations to these two well deserving ladies.

This is a reminder for parents who pick up or drop off their children at school. Morning drop off parents will come in off Indian Trail. Afternoon pickup parents will come in off Third Street. Parents will pick up students behind the school.

CCHS New Traffic Patterns / Entrances The following will be the changes for traffic patterns and Entrances/Exits at CCHS. Parking: Both front parking lots will be gone as well as the road that goes behind the gym as of December 2, 2024(new construction zone). Student and Staff parking will be behind the school as labeled on the map. Traffic Pattern: Please refer to the attached maps for the traffic patterns as well as the entrance/exit locations at the school.

Parents, we sent an email to each student's school email account explaining the new traffic patterns at CCHS. Please review the email and let us know if you have any questions. There is a difference in the student drop-off procedures and the student pick-up procedures. The changes will take place beginning on Monday, December 2, 2024. These changes are due to the construction of the new CCHS.

Students, that have signed up to go on the Georgia Power Klondike Day Career Awareness Event in Savannah tomorrow, need to be at the front of the school by 6:45 AM. The bus will leave at 7:00, so if you are late you won’t be able to attend. If you haven’t turned in your signed permission form, you can bring it in the morning. We will return to CCHS around 2:30 tomorrow afternoon. Georgia Power will provide a Chic Fil A lunch for all participants.

CCHS Graduation Rate- The CCHS graduation rate continues to rise. CCHS has a graduation rate of 98.6% for the 2024 school year while Georgia has an 85.4% rate. Congratulations to the staff and students at CCHS.

Charlton County Schools will re-open for students and staff tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1. We understand that some families are still without power. For those that are still affected by the storm, please know that we understand and fully expect you to make taking care of your family your primary concern. For those that are able to attend, schools will be open on Tuesday. Stay safe!

Currently, about 30% of homes in Charlton County are without power, and cell service is nearly non-existent in many areas. For those reasons, Charlton County Schools will remain closed on Monday, Sept. 30 to provide an opportunity for power and communications to be restored.
